I know what you are thinking…. Rarotonga in the middle of NZ Fashion Week… Yes I am slightly crazy and some how we always manage to fit all sorts of things in. Rarotonga today and then back to Auckland and down to fashion week. We are always very busy and have many projects on the go. It’s so fun and I absolutely love it.

Rarotonga is a special project that I am very excited about at the moment. We went to Rarotonga to work on our hotel, which I am doing the interior design for. The hotel is situated on the most incredible lagoon. Crystal clear water and bright white sand. It’s stunning and you will love it!

Spring is here and the sun is shining…. Have a FANTASTIC week everyone.

Yesterday, accompanied by my daily fix of espresso and Pain o Chocolat I headed off to the Paris Trade fairs at Port de Versailles. Unfortunately Paula couldn’t make this trip so I was on my own in Paris!

After a few hiccups I finally managed to get my pass to join thousands of people from all over the world walk the endless isles in the Paris Expo halls.

First stop was interfiliere to meet with some of our swimsuit fabric suppliers and have a sneak peek at next seasons colour release, then onto walk the halls for inspiration. Unimaginable amounts of lingerie lace… table after table of silks, embroidery, it was more than any two sets of eyes could take in.

Mode City was my next stop which features swimsuit and lingerie designers showcasing their summer 2011 lines. Friends you will be pleased to know that the day of the skimpy string bikini is gone, 1950′s elegance is back with vengence. Bandot’s are back in a big way with beautiful embelishments. The hottest swimsuit colours are all based on neutral earth tones, turqiouse, aubergine and golds.

By this stage it was 3:00pm, time was flying by and I only had time to visit one more hall… Who’s next. This fair is dedicated to up and coming designers, the talent housed within this show was astonishing. One stand out booth was by a Japanese designer Fly Now. Unfortunately I got told off in French for taking pictures so I only managed to take a few, one dress was made completely out of blue feathers.. totally unwearable but a work of art all the same. After taking in as much as a could possibly stomach and headed back with arching feet to the metro to head back to Monmartre.

Woolly jumpers and heavy jackets might be our every day staples, but with spring almost here, it’s time to start thinking light, breezy and Resort 2011. The trans-seasonal resort lines will start to arrive in stores in November and the Paula Herbert Resort Collection will be available from early December. The Resort season is the start of Summer!

For every girl that wants to look effortlessy sexy,cool and like she’s not trying to hard, Resort is the way to go.

We can’t change that, but what we can do is try putting on a bight Red lipstick. I know some of you will think, there is no way it will suit me…I can’t carry that off…Give it go! life is too short, and have some fun with it and be confident. You don’t have to be dressed up to wear Red lips, jeans and a white T shirt also look really cool without trying too hard. Don’t be scared, try it! I can promise you it will cheer you up and you do always feel good with bight red lips.

The one I love is the Matte Russian red from Mac, it lasts for hours without smudging halfway down your face without you realising.. . .which is never a good look.

I’m sure you would agree with me… how sexy is the new Mercedes Benz Gullwing!

Like fashion designers, car companies love to dip into their pasts for inspiration (or outright appropriation). Few models make such an obvious target as the startlingly beautiful 1950s 300 SL Gullwings. Lithe autos with rounded corners and signature doors hinged at the roof, good examples will go at auction for around $500,000.

No one was surprised to see a modern interpretation from Benz, though I wish they’d simply called it a Gullwing and been done with it.

Every supercar has its own niche. A Ferrari 430 Scuderia is meant for the track, a Bentley Continental GT for Malibu. With the SLS, you could swing into Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry without a tinge of nouveau-riche embarrassment — valets will still swoon when the doors swing aloft. Yet the next morning might find you rocking around Laguna Seca at top speed. This is a supercar with class!

My husband and I viewed it a few weeks ago, the new two door coupe is definitely a far cry from the classic Gullwing produced by Mercedes in the 50′s. Yet the sleek, timeless design lines still apply.

With a 6.3 litre engine I’m sure this is bound to keep any husband happy, unfortunately though if this particular car has stolen your heart you may have to wait until 2011 as the first release in New Zealand is all pre sold.
